Quite a day at the bottom of the Barclays Premier League, and despite a win for Burnley, it wasn’t enough to save them
from relegation from the Premier League, and they’ll now prepare themselves for
a huge battle in the Championship next season.
Burnley and Danny Ings ended their goalless streaks, beating
Hull City 1-0 at the KC Stadium, but as games run out, and teams just above
them getting big results, it wasn’t enough to keep them up.
Steve Bruce’s Hull City have it all to-do now, after this
latest loss, and Leicester, Sunderland and Villa all claiming victories. The
Tigers remain in the relegation places in 18th, 2 points behind
Newcastle, who managed their first point in 9 games, drawing 1-1 with West Brom
at St James’ Park, and 2 points ahead of Sunderland, who have a game in-hand,
although it is away to Arsenal.
Sunderland climbed to 14th after their early
kick-off with Everton at Goodison, winning 2-0, courtesy of two deflected
goals. They have since dropped to 16th after the 3pm kick-offs
ended, but have still given themselves a massive chance of surviving now, and
their next game against Leicester should be a cracker! The Black Cats will want
3 points from that game, with Arsenal and Chelsea away, to end the season!
QPR look set to join Burnley, even if they were to win their
3 remaining games. They travel to City for Sunday’s 13:30 kick-off, and
relegation will be confirmed, unless they win.
City are unbeaten in the last 6 games in all competitions
against QPR, but the last 2 have ended draws.
QPR, like Burnley, could lose their main striker in the
summer, especially if relegated. Austin has scored 17 league goals this season,
43.5% of all QPR’s league goals.
