Saturday Preview - Free Horse Racing Tips

A decent Saturday’s racing once again, with plenty of action across the UK and Ireland, with meetings at Bath, Beverley, Chester, Market Rasen, Newton Abbott, Sandown and Wexford (IRE). So there’s a fair few chances to try and beat them bookies to get the weekend off to a perfect start.

I’ll begin with a look at the opening race at Beverley (13:55), the Class 4 maiden fillies’ stakes over 7f 100y. ADELE was one who impressed me on her debut at Thirsk (8f – g-s), finishing 2/12, and was added to my tracker. She could have been considered a little unlucky when hampered slightly 2 furlongs out, by the winner, and third place, and still managed to close strongly at the finish, but always just being held.  She looks likely to open odds-on favourite here, and has every chance if taking to the race in the same manner, in a relatively ordinary looking maiden.

Hollie Point was much improved last time out, upped to 7f (beaten ¾ lengths), following a couple of disappointing runs to begin her career (6f). She was beaten by Supreme Occasion and Abbey Angel who have gone onto win their handicap debuts since. She should be Adele’s biggest challenge.

 

Next we’ll move down to Sandown, and a look at the Group 3 Solario Stakes over 7f 16y (14:40). Ryan Moore hops back on board AKTABANTAY, who has been in very good form, with figures of 2212, with his latest effort a big step up, in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes (7f g-s) at Newmarket in July (William Buick the jockey that day). Trainer and Jockey have a 40% strike rate when teamed together this year, and I expect that to increase here.

Pallister is another I have been impressed with, although a little disappointing last time out in the Group 2 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes, first attempt at 7f. Trainer’s son, Charlie Johnston, has said he expects the ground to be no problem from this colt by Pivotal. I do expect him to go close and challenge for the win.

The Godolphin-owned Future Empire is another that can’t be ruled out, and currently lies second favourite. He won well in maiden debut at Newmarket over 7f, on faster ground. In-form James Doyle takes over from Harry Bentley who rode him to that victory. Trainer, Suroor, is quoted as saying, he needs good ground.

 

The next race at Sandown is the Group 3 fillies’ and mares Atalanta Stakes over 1m 14y (15:15). Fintry is 6/4 favourite but I think I’m willing to go against her for this one, having read the quotes from top class trainer, Andrea Fabre, who says she has had a serious cough, and went onto say she would probably need the race after 3 months off. He also said that this was a comeback, with the view to the Group 1 Sun Chariot in October.

Favour is instead, for DIAMOND DOVE, who came 2/12 4 weeks ago in G3 Deutsches Stuten-Derby in Germany. Soft ground should be ideal, with hopes it doesn’t dry out too much. Jockey, Frederik Tylicki in good form of late.

Water Hole is another who is open to further progression and can come close under William Buick. He won by 2 lengths last time out on soft ground, and is on a hat-trick of turf wins here.

 

And lastly a quick look at the Class 4 Nursery Handicap over 7f 16y (still at Sandown) (16:25). A tough one to call but SISTER OF MERCY looks the one to beat and hopefully there’s more to come, having won well last time out, in second attempt at 7f. Previous start (7f), came 3/10, beaten by recent Group 3 winner Malabar. Again, it’s in-for James Doyle who takes the ride.

Mark Johnston-trained Assault On Rome has been in decent form without winning in the last 4, but should come close.

Monday's Selections - Free Horse Racing Tips

A look at a few picks for Monday's evening meeting at Windsor to start the week off. Also keep a look out for tips for York's Ebor Festival which begins on Wednesday. But before that, still plenty of racing to go, and plenty of chances to beat the bookies.

WINDSOR 5:30 - CLASS 5 MAIDEN - 6f

LACKADAY (No Price as yet) - 2/8 on just second start latest at this course a week ago, where unlucky when hampered badly against rails, and stumbled 1f out, but recovered to run on well and chase winner down final 100 yards. Every chance of going one better today. High draw advantage in stall 11.

Newcomers, Aces (who has a group 1 entry) and Reflation could be interesting to watch.


WINDSOR 6:00 - CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 5f 10y

JACOBS PILLOW (2/1 - Ladbrokes) - 2/5 last time out in Class 3 3yo handicap at Bath (6f - firm). William Haggas-trained, and has Ryan Moore on board. Moore has excellent record at this course this year, with 16 wins from 35 runs (46%), and 7 wins from 12 runs (58%) with 3yo's.


WINDSOR 7:00 - CLASS 5 FILLIES' HANDICAP - 1m 2f 7y

TRULEE SCRUMPTIOUS (4/1 - William Hill) - Looks to be on the up after latest run, where won Class 5 handicap at Newmarket (down in trip there - 8f), on soft ground; made all and stayed on well. Would appreciate a bit of rain.
Trainer, Peter Charlambous only has this mare running today, and has 3 wins from 8 at this course.


WINDSOR 7:30 - CLASS 5 MAIDEN - 1m 67y

SHAMA'S CROWN (No Price as yet) - 2/7 on debut in Class 4 maiden at Doncaster (10f) - dwelt at start but made quick headway to join winner after 2f - One pace final furlong, and will appreciate the drop in trip here. Was beaten by Pleasant Valley, who's currently rated 78, and has subsequently won a Class 4 handicap two days ago.
By 5x Group 1 winner (7-12f at 2-3), New Approach.


WINDSOR 8:00 - CLASS 4 FILLIES' HANDICAP - 1m 67y

BOLD LASS (5/2 - CORAL) - 2 wins from 3 starts on the turf - close second 1 length behind Extremity in May - Extremity currently rated 91 and has just won Class 3 handicap at Goodwood.
Upped in trip to 8f for the first time.
Trainer, David Lanigan's only entry today, and he has 4 wins from 7 runners in the last fortnight. Jockey, Durcan also in top form of late.

HUNDI (No Price as yet) - 2/10 last time out in Class 2 Maiden at Goodwood 2 1/2 weeks ago. Has entries for Group 2 Shadwell Rockfel Stakes and Group 1 Connolly's Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes.
By Australian Champion Sprinter Fastnet Rock.


Newcomer Exoplanet Blue could be an interesting one to watch - By Exceed and Excel - trainer in very good form, and has an impressive 38% strike rate in 2 year old maidens, so far in 2014.




NEWBURY 1:35 - Class 4 Handicap - 1m 2f 6y


FLIPPANT (11/2 - BET365) - Dropped back to Class 4 after 8/11 latest in Class 2 handicap at Epsom. Won on 'soft' in May, previous start, and stayed on (8f).
William Haggas has a 33% strike rate with 3 year olds, in handicaps (2014). And a few have been of late, including, Authorised Too (13/08), Dream Spirit (09/08) and Buredyma (07/08).
When teamed together in 2014, Haggas, and Jockey, Alison, have a 45% strike rate overall, 50% with 3 year olds - 5 from 10.




NEWBURY 2:40 - Class 1 (Group 3) BETFRED TV GEOFFREY FREER STAKES - 1m 5f 61y


PETHER'S MOON (EW) (6/1 - Ladbrokes) - Won Group 3 Coutts Glorious Stakes last time out at Goodwood. Upped in trip here, but in command in latest run, inside final furlong, and eased near finish, so shouldn't be a problem; got every chance.
Blinkers applied for first time.


Somewhat (7/1 - Ladbrokes) could run a good race, having come 3/9 in Coral Eclipse (given no chance at 100/1). Just a couple of question marks regarding the step up to 13f, and the soft ground.




DONCASTER 3:40 - Class 4 Maiden Stakes - 6f


ANNA'S VISION (No Price as yet) - 3 consecutive, very close, 2nd place finishes in 2014 - Latest headed on the post a week ago. This can be the one she finally holds on.

STRIKE A LIGHT (7/4 - BETVICTOR - 13/8 BET365) - won by 8 lengths last time out, at this course and distance. Ran at good pace for the ground, which was good-soft. Both wins have been course-distance wins here, and both on good-soft ground. If she comes to the track in the same form, she can defy the 6lb penalty, and the 'good' ground shouldn't be an issue.

Sunday's Selections - Free Horse Racing Tips

A decent day overall yesterday, although not as many winners as I'd have liked, but profit's the most important. The free horse racing tips for Haydock, posted on the blog, saw just the 1 win and 1 placed, from the 4 picks, as Token Of Love (advised EW 9/1) won the 3:25 Listed race. Llanarmon Lad (advised EW 9/1) managed a decent run in the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap, to finish second. As for the members tips, and the action from Ascot in the Shergar Cup, there were 2 wins from 6 as Goldream (advised 4/1) won the Shergar Cup Dash in the opener. Hassle (advised at 5/1) could only manage 3rd in the Stayers Handicap. Highland Acclaim (advised 5/1) was the other winner, just staying on to take the Sprint Handicap.

So, onto today, and obviously not as much action as yesterday. There's no member tips today, but I have got a couple of free horse racing tips from Leicester's meeting, which we'll get straight onto now......

RED WARRIOR EW (11/1 - BETVICTOR) - In good form before latest run - 9/11 in Class 4 handicap at York. Only career win has come at 10f (and was this year). Win was 'good' ground.
2014 record - 4 starts; 1 win, 2 placed (2nd).


LEICESTER 3:30 - COPLOW HANDICAP (Class 3) - 5f 218y

BOY IN THE BAR (6/1 - BETVICTOR) - 2/10 latest in Class 3 handicap at Pontefract (6f) 2 weeks ago. Won previous start by 5 lengths in Class 5 handicap at Pontefract.
6 starts; 2 wins, 2 placed. By Dutch Art; good source of sprinters.
Trainer, Barron, has a good record at the course over recent seasons, with 5 wins from 15 (33% SR).


LEICESTER 4:00 - BLABY HANDICAP (Class 5) - 5f 218y

BOLD SPIRIT (7/2 - BET365) - 5 Flat Turf starts; 0 wins, 4 placed - first win not far away, and every chance here. Drops down in trip and Class after latest run where 3/10 in Class 4 Maiden at Doncaster - race run at good pace; weakened inside final furlong.
By top sire, Invincible Spirit.
First time blinkers applied.
Jockey, Ryan Moore, has an excellent record at the course over recent years, with a 32% strike rate.

Castorienta (11/4 - PADDY POWER) who was second last time out at course-distance, has every chance of going one better, and is the main danger.

LLANARMON LAD - EW (9/1 - BETVICTOR) - In very good form. Stepped back up to 10f after 3/11 last time out over 8f at Newmarket. 9 career starts; 3 wins 5 placed. By high class sprint 2 year old Red Clubs - from fast family.


HAYDOCK 2:55 - BETFRED ROSE OF LANCASTER STAKES (Group 3) (Class 1) - 1m 2f 95y

VANCOUVERITE (5/1 - Paddy Power (best odds guaranteed)) - Unlucky not to take victory last time out - a shoulder behind Amralah in the Doombar Stakes at Newbury - finshed the race well. Came second in G1 at Meydan in March. 3 from 5 at distance - 2 from 4 on the going.

Nabucco (8/1 - Coral) could be a big danger, especially if there's any rain about.


HAYDOCK 3:25 - BETFRED TV/EBF STALLIONS DICK HERN FILLIES' STAKES (Listed) (Class 1) - 1m

TOKEN OF LOVE - EW (9/1 Coral) - Steps up to Listed company, but in good form, and open to improvement, and every chance of adding to trainer, William Haggas's, impressive record at the course, and over recent weeks.

MUHAWALAH (11/4 - BETVICTOR) just gets the vote ahead of hat-trick chasing Serene Grae. The Roger Varian-trained filly won last time out, in Class 5 maiden at Carlisle, over 8f (carried head high and a bit awkward final furlong, but soon in command) - ran at good pace. Previous two starts, only attempts at 10f, and second in both. Varian, and jockey Frederik Tylicki have an impressive 42% strike rate, with 3 year olds, when teamed together in 2014.


MUSSELBURGH 3:30 - JONATHON JOYCE STORM ID HANDICAP (Class 4) - 7f 30y
RED PIKE (11/4 - LADBROKES) has been in very good form in 2014, and gets the vote here. 4 starts (2014) 2 wins, 2 placed. Latest start, first over 7f, came 3/12 in Class 4 handicap at Newmarket - only 3/4 lengths behind- just hung right a little, inside final furlong.

Just Paul (7/1 - CORAL) could be the main danger, and is a 3 times course-distance winner (3 from 5 at the course). Drops back in Class here, after latest start 6/12 in Class 3 handicap at Newcastle.

Friday Already! - Free Horse Racing Tips

Well, its Friday already, and there's another full day of racing, with 6 meetings across the UK and Ireland. This afternoon, there's action from Brighton, Musselburgh and Lingfield (AW), and this evening, Haydock, Newmarket and Tipperary.
And, of course, tomorrow we have another busy schedule including the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot, with all races viewable on Channel 4 (first two races on More4).

Free Horse Racing Tips - Tuesday's Ripon Meeting

Just a quick post with a couple of free horse racing tips for Tuesday's evening card from Ripon.

6:15 - SILKS AND SADDLES BAR MAIDEN STAKES (Class 5) - 6f

Richard Fahey-trained FULLON CLARETS kept on to take second on debut at the beginning of June, over 5f at Catterick, and the step up to 6f here is sure to benefit. Summer Times is an obvious danger.


6:45 - CONSTANT SECURITY SERVICES NURSERY HANDICAP (Class 5) - 5f

JUST THE TIP (6/4 - Paddy Power) just gets the vote in the first handicap in the evenings card. Up 5lbs for latest win at Carlisle just over a week ago, where making-all. Trainer and jockey in decent form of late.

Free Horse Racing Tips - Windsor

Another week begins, and there's a few meetings in the UK and Ireland for today, including Windsor, Cork and Carlisle. I've got a few free horse racing tips for the evening card at Windsor, so here they are....


6:30 - Sportsable - Grassroots to Paralymic Sports Club Handicap Class 5 - 5f 10y

8 runners set to compete for the first handicap here at Windsor, and it's PICC OF BURGAU (4/1 - Paddy Power) who just gets the vote, and can get her own back on Joyous, who beat her last time out. When teamed together in 2014, trainer Geoffrey Deacon and jockey George Baker have a 23% strike rate.


7:00 - Fexco Commercial FX Services Handicap Class 4 - 1m 67y

CRAFTMANSHIP (9/2 - BET365) has been in best form on last two starts, coming 3/14, just 3/4 lengths behind latest, and winning previous. Came 3/12 last year as a 2 year old, in only start at this course to-date.


7:30 - Royal Berkshire Odd Fellows Handicap Class 4 - 6f

Favour is for DESERT COMMAND (11/2 - Boylesport) who came 2/9 last time out at Epsom, and can go one better here to claim only 3rd career win. Both wins to-date have come over todays 6f distance. Trainer Andrew Balding has a very good record overall at the course with a 22% strike rate, and has been in good form of-late.

Glorious Goodwood Tips - Day 5

Another great day of racing in-store, and my member tips were sent out last night. I've decided to post them on here today, as I've not had chance to post my free tips from Doncaster. The prices were correct at time of sending to members, and will have changed, of course. As has the first race at 2:05 in terms of runners, with loads of non-runners!

2:05 - 32REDSport.com Handicap Class 2 - 6f
28 runners set to compete, so as expected, not the easiest to pick a winner. The best I can find, and my pick, is TATLISU (6/1 - Paddy Power), who's been back to 6f of late, and been in good form- 2/13 latest in Class 2 at Hamilton, and 1/12 previous start, beating SKYBET DASH winner Muthmir by a neck. Both run at good pace. By Red Clubs; from fast family. Ryan Moore is back aboard, and has been in good form of late.

The main danger for me, and maybe worth an each-way bet, is Stepping Out (10/1 - BET365), who's on a hat-trick here. Made all last time out, and in command towards finish. A step up in Class, but every chance of coming close. Course-distance winner. Excellent record at the 6f trip with 3 wins, 1 placed in 4 runs.

Another danger would be the 4x course winner Slip Sliding Away (25/1 - William Hill). Trainer Peter Hedges has a 35% strike rate at the course.



2:40 - Jaguar Stakes Handicap Class 2 - 1m 4f

Another big field, and a few with every chance, but it's an each-way bet on BLACK SHADOW (16/1 - Ladbrokes) that's advised. 3 Flat turf starts, 1 win, 2 second. The win was course win over 11f. Latest run was 2 lengths behind What About Carlo at Epsom (Class 2 - Good). Trip should be ideal. By 5x Group 1 winner New Approach.

Dangers in the race come from last time out winner (Thursday) on the course, Rainbow Rock (9/2 - Ladbrokes). Stepped up in trip after last two runs at 10f. Definitely on the up and every chance. Course-distance winner Oasis Fantasy (9/1 - Paddy Power) came 2/10 latest run, in Class 2 handicap at Ascot, and Richard Hughes takes over as jockey. Second Step is open to further progression, and can't be ruled out.



3:15 - Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes (Group 1) Cl1 - 1m 1f 192y

I can't see past top pedigree, VENUS DE MILO (11/4 - Paddy Power) for this one. Back to form latest two starts, 1/7 (G3), and 2/8 (G1), in Ireland. 4 wins and 3 seconds from 9 starts. 2 G3 wins, 3 G1 seconds.

Next best for me is Sultanina (9/2 - 888.sport), who should appreciate the step back down to 10f, with the fast ground no issue, though yet to race on g-f.



3:50 - 32RED CUP (Stewards' Cup) Handicap - 6f

I've said it a few times, and I'll say it again, another tough one to call in a wide open race! SKYBET Dash winner, MUTHMIR (11/2 - Coral) just gets the vote, and can make it two wins in a week here.

Dangers come from course-distance winner Intrinsic (15/2 - William Hill), who can progress further on the faster ground. Another course-distance winner, Joey's Destiny (25/1 - Ladbrokes) may also be worth an each-way bet at the price, and has been decent in some bigger fields in the past.

Competition Time!!

Glorious Goodwood - BETFRED MILE

A quick look into today's BETFRED MILE at Glorious Goodwood (3:05), on day 4. 18 runners now compete, with Russian Realm and Chosen Character both non-runners. I've looked at a few I think will be the top runners in the race....

Richard Hannon-trained Magic City (8/1 - BET365) won 3 big-field races over 7f last year, and has 3 wins from 5 at the course.

Velox (7/1 - BET365)has come down in trip, and that went in his favour last time out, winning the Coral Challenge at Sandown over 8f (by 3 lengths). Jockey, Andrea Atzeni has been on-fire of late with a 31% strike rate.

Charles Appleby-trained Steeler (16/1 - William Hill) could be a decent each-way bet; has 3 wins, 2 seconds, and 2 third from 8 starts. He was Group 2 winner of Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket 2012. Latest run (back from Meydan), back down in trip, 3/28 in Class 2 Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot. Run at good pace. 2 from 2 on the course.

Our Channel (16/1 - BetVictor) is an interesting one, 2nd in the American Derby this year at Arlington Park (10f). 13/16 in this years Investec Derby at Epsom, but never really much chance in big step up, and up to 12f. Made all in the trial in April (10f). Step down in trip and class. Has 2 wins and 3 placed in 6 starts.
