Racing UK | Dante Stakes | York

The second day of the Dante Festival from York gets under way very soon, with going currently described as ‘Good’, and conditions expected to stay dry, with sunny intervals forecast through the afternoon.

The feature race comes at 3:15 in the Group 2 Dante Stakes, and it’s currently John Gosden-trained Jack Hobbs who heads the market (11/4 Best Price), and is being well backed. It’s then Elm Park and John F Kennedy joint-second favourites at present, best price 4/1, and Gosden’s second choice Golden Horn at 9/2.

The last few years, draws 4 and 6 have found the winners, which will be occupied by Elm Park and John F Kennedy….

Before that, we have the fillies and mares Group 2 Middleton Stakes, with Sir Michael Stoute-trained Bragging clear favourite at 15/8, with Ribbons and Secret Gesture next best at 6/1. The trainer has won this race twice in the last 10 years, but not since 2009, when Crystal Capella made it successive wins for Sir Michael, having won it the previous year also, with Promising Lead.

There’s also a couple of Listed races from York, as well as plenty of other racing action across the UK, with meetings at Fontwell, Newmarket, Perth, and Salisbury.
